Trimmit™ (Plant Growth Regulator)

Plant growth regulation and Poa annua suppression

Trimmit™ is a proven, root absorbed, class B Plant Growth Regulator (PGR), with the ability to suppress Poa annua, where applied, while managing top growth of other desirable turfgrasses.

Label & SDS Summary

Active Ingredient: Paclobutrazol

Approved Province(s):

Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan

Approved Uses:

Turf, On Golf Courses, Turfgrass

Product Benefits
  • Reduces the frequency of mowing up to 50% by regulating the growth of turfgrass
  • Differential suppression may give creeping bentgrass a competitive advantage over Poa annua in mixed stands.
Mode of Action
Trimmit, a Type II Class B PGR, is absorbed primarily through plant roots, blocking early biosynthetic Gibberellic acid (GA) formation. The result is inhibition of cell elongation (vertical leaf growth), shortening of plant internodes, and a decrease in seedhead stalk height. This causes a retarding of plant growth, contributing to a more uniform playing surface.
Class of Chemistry
Type II, Class B, plant growth regulator
Uses

For Control Of:

Use Trimmit as part of a management program to improve turf uniformity, density, and ball roll, while reducing mowing needs under periods of moderate to high growth potential.

Packaging

Case of 2 x 3.78 L jugs

Application Information

Use Rates:

  • 4.5 – 11.2 mL/100m2
Use lower rate and more frequent applications if turf discoloration cannot be tolerated.

Water Volume:

Apply in sufficient water to ensure thorough coverage; 400-800 L/ha is recommended

Application Information:

  • To maintain high quality turf, repeat applications are recommended with a 7-21- day interval. Repeat application can be made within the same growing season as long as the turf is actively growing.
  • Trimmit is root absorbed and should be irrigated into the thatch/rootzone, within 24hrs, for activation. In areas without irrigation, higher water carrier is recommended to place the product into its zone of uptake activity.
  • Trimmit should be applied to healthy, actively growing turfgrass. There is a potential for overregulation if applied in periods of limited growth potential.
  • Increased use rates of Trimmit lead to more growth suppression but don't necessarily extend the control period. Adjust application rates and timing based on turf species, mowing height, desired vegetative control, and compounding factors affecting plant growth.
  • It is recommended to wait two weeks after a Trimmit application before establishing overseeding in a treated area. Seeded areas should be established for six weeks before recommencing any Trimmit application on newly established turfgrasses stands.

Mixing Order:

WALES symbol: "L" (liquid flowable) - Suspension concentrate

  1. Ensure that the sprayer interior is clean, then fill the spray tank with ½ the required amount of water and engage gentle agitation. Good agitation is indicated by a rippling or rolling action on the surface of the water.
  2. Add Trimmit and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  3. Finish filling the sprayer with water, maintaining good agitation.
  4. After any break in spraying operations, agitate thoroughly before spraying again.
  5. Spray the same day as mixing.
  6. Do not mix, load or clean spray equipment where there is a potential to contaminate wells or aquatic systems.

Use Restrictions:

  • Exercise caution and review labels when mixing or overlapping Trimmit with other Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs) or triazole fungicides, as these products may compound growth suppression and enhance regulation effects.
  • Continuous Trimmit applications can suppress Poa annua. Users should note that initial Poa annua discoloration and potential Poa annua decline will occur. These effects are biotype, environmental, application rate, and use dependent.
  • For multiple applications, do not apply more than 4.05 L/ha per year.

Worker Safety
Wear long sleeves, long pants and chemical resistant gloves while mixing/loading, applying and during clean up and repair.
