The Art of Application

The performance of a pest control product is determined by more than just the active ingredient in the jug. There are four factors that impact performance — the components of control. Product formulation determines 50% of application success. Timing and mechanics account for 20% each, and the last 10% comes down to tuning.

Our focus on "Art of Application" is designed to educate and assist Superintendents in maximizing product value and treatment efficacy. For personalized guidance, contact your Syngenta Turf Specialist to enhance your application success.

Formulation

Formulation plays a crucial role in product performance by acting as the vehicle to deliver active ingredients to the target pest in an effective, efficient, and convenient way.

Why Formulation Matters

Matt Legg, Syngenta Professional Solutions Technical Lead, and Dr. Samantha Francis, Formulation & Application Technology Lead, discuss formulation basics and how they impact product choice, storage, mixing, application and overall efficacy.

Application

Application accounts for the other 50% of the components of control. It encompasses factors such as having the proper timing of the application based on weather conditions and pest presence (20%), mechanics (20%), including aspects like sprayer calibration, water volume, and pressure, and finally, fine-tuning, which includes elements like nozzle selection (10%).

The Importance of Nozzles

Matt Legg, Syngenta Professional Solutions Technical Lead, and Xin Lu, Application Specialist, breakdown nozzle basic for turf, including selection, pressure and nozzle design.

Get Even Coverage

Syngenta XC Nozzles are a breakthrough in turf application technology that delivers better and more accurate results. Syngenta Turf Nozzles have been specifically designed to cope with and maintain even coverage when spraying undulating ground. The rearwards spray angle compensates for the forward movement of the sprayer, delivering better all-around coverage of the turf leaf.
